What's up Summer

Summer has gone by fast. Most of the time I’ve been working and writing my master’s thesis. Currently, I’m having a holiday for two weeks. It feels good to take some time to just chill and relax. My holiday started when straight after work we took a bus to Himos with my friend Janika. There was a christian conference called New wine. I’ve participated the conference for five times already. I used to volunteer there with audiovisual and media teams before. We worked for live-streaming the event for screens and also creating content for social media, filmed short videos daily and took photos of the event.

Volunteering with media team and audiovisual teams were good opportunities to learn from other filmmakers. Most of my knowledge on video production is based on learning from others and watching content and tutorials. Learning by doing has been the most productive way to learn new skills for me. Also I enjoy working with teams where everyone can have different skill sets and bring their creativity and ideas together. This year I didn’t volunteer on the conference, since I only could participate half of the event. It was good to relax as well.

A week before the event we realized with my friend Joel that we both don’t have a cottage to stay during the event. We started to gather a group to join our cottage. In the end, we got overall ten people to our cottage group. People came around Finland and we had a lot of fun together. We stayed up until sunrise twice and it was totally worth it. The sunrise was probably the most beautiful I’ve ever seen. There was fog everywhere and the sun was rising up and coloring the sky.

I’ve never considered myself as a nature or landscape photographer. I’m more used to taking portraits and filming events. When I travel, I take more photos of the nature, but at home, not so much. I’ve realized that I should go more outdoors and film the nature as well. Being by the lake or walking in the forest is so calming and refreshing. It is a good way to explore new places in your home country. There are many great places to visit even near Helsinki. We visited Vallisaari and Kuninkaansaari with Tommi and Anni last week. Nature there was beautiful.

Now when the holiday is short, I’m trying to make the most of it. There’s a lot to do, but I’m also trying to just chill. Sometimes I’m going and doing so many things that I forget to relax. And right now, I know that I need the holiday time more than ever. So, thanks for reading my blog post, enjoy warm summer days and see you later ❤️
