Why photography?
Welcome to my new website and also to the first blog post. Glad to see you here!
It’s time to introduce myself. You can see my latest work in my portfolio and read a little bit about me on my site. Here on this blog I will share about my everyday life as a photographer and filmmaker and also the process of learning new things along the way.
So, why photography? I got my first camera when I was 14 years old. Since then I’ve been walking a camera in my hand. Well not literally all the time, but you know, most of the time. When I started I used to take photos of nature such as macro shots of flowers, some landscapes and so on, anything that I found somewhat interesting. I went to some photography camps and joined a media team of our local church. I started to take portraits of my friends and I was always the one who took all the pictures on our trips together.
Later on I got interested in making videos. Or actually it happened even earlier, since we made our first short films with my friends when we were 10 years old. Filmed by our family’s video camera and edited with the good old Windows Movie Maker. Good memories though. I learned more about filmmaking in different media teams, working for events and participating some short film productions. For the past year I’ve been making vertical videos for my Instagram weekly and also that has been a constant learning process for me. I just love the feeling when you get to watch the final video that you have created and how the idea developed during the making.
I started getting requests from my friends, or people who I knew, asking me to take photos for them. Finally, in August 2017 I started my own company, and here we are. My hobby had turned from passion to profession. Yet, I’m still developing every time and I never want to stop learning.
For me making photos and videos is a way to tell stories. Stories of everyday life, friendship, traveling or just a geocaching trip to forest. To save the precious memories and moments. Remember those moments and share the feeling with others. That’s why I do photography.
