Studio photoshoots and Self-portraits

I’ve decided to challenge myself as a photographer this year and do things outside of my comfort zone.

I’ve always prefered taking photos in natural light than using flashes. In the beginning of this year I got a chance to take portrait photos in a studio for clients. I’ve learnt to use studio lighting and flashes and learnt new skills in image processing as well.

I have been a commited Lightroom user but now also Photoshop and it’s layers have appeared interesting to me. One of my goals is to learn animation using After Effects. Who knows, maybe I will even change Premiere to Da Vinci Resolve (or maybe not). 🤔💻✂️

I have been taking more self-portraits lately. Self-portraits are a great way for photographers to learn new poses and become more confident in front of the camera. In the photo below my camera is on a tripod. I connected camera to my phone and took photos with self-timer. The window light in the morning was so pretty.

My tips for taking self-portaits:

✨Use a tripod or stabilize your camera on a shelf
✨Use a flip screen or connect your camera to your phone if possible
✨Create a mood board of inspiring photos on Pinterest
✨Recreate a pose from those photos
✨ When taking photos inside, use the window light
✨ A simple background can work well

Thanks for reading my blog! Enjoy your day. ❤️
